Phlebotomy certification in Arkansas is no different than in any other state. You must first complete a training program that has national accreditation from the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Patients may need to know exactly what will happen and how long it will take, so phlebotomists need to be patient and able to clearly explain what it is they do.
Once you complete a training program you must take the national certification exam, which can be done through a number of sources. Two popular options are the National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel and the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Requirements for continued education may vary depending on who you are certified with, so be sure to check what re-certification requirements exist so you know when and how often to re-certify.
